I (Alexis Van Acker), attained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Humboldt State
University, and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University.
I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern through the state of Idaho. I am a Licensed in
the state of California as well. I enjoy working with many different people. I have worked with individuals, couple's, families,
and in group settings. I have experience in working with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, adjustment and
developmental struggles, gender dysphoria and gender questions, and interpersonal conflict. I mostly
work from a Cognitive-Behavioral Theory lens, but I incorporate a multitude of other theories such as
Structural Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Experiential
Therapy. I also have training in The Gottman Method Couple's Therapy and Eye-Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
